The conference runs Friday, May 17, and Saturday, May 18, and explores core competencies of Sand Therapy: Knowledge, Skills, Attitudes and Professional Engagement. There will be a keynote, case presentations, experiential learning, the latest best practices in defining competencies with sand, as well as a panel discussion where Dr. Dee will share her knowledge. The title of the panel discussion is Journey Through the Path of the Sand Therapist.
The conference features sessions for all experience levels for play therapists, licensed professional counselors, marriage and family therapists, psychologists, social workers, Jungian analysts, licensed practitioners and graduate students who practice or wish to learn more about sand therapy competencies in particular and play therapy techniques and theory as well.,
To set the tone for the WASTP conference, distinguished Keynote Presenters, Linda Homeyer, Ph.D., LPC-S, RPT-STM; Elizabeth Hartwig, Ph.D., LMFT-S, CAAC, LMFT, RPT-STM, LPC-S, LPC, Registered Pet Partners Therapy Team; and Jessica Stone, Ph.D., RPT-STM will examine their groundbreaking research in sand therapy on sand therapy practice competencies. They will spearhead a rich and animated discussion about the needs and future for the ethical practice of sand therapy with Marshall Lyles, LPC-S, LMFT-S, RPT-STM, EMDRIA Approved Consultant serving as moderator.
On both days conference attendees can select from Core Competencies presentations that will serve to advance the healing practice of Sand Therapy.
