Dr. Preston-Dillon will explain existential meaning in sand scenes and how symbols help clients tell their stories in this overview of Narrative Sand Therapy. The course will be provided to IPCF-China, Integrated Psychological Training Center for Child and Family in the Fall of 2023.
The fall course will elaborate the use of the therapist’s imagination, safe engagement with process hypnosis, collaborative amplification, and wonderment, and when appropriate how to use active imagination with symbols in sand. Sessions include topics such as, how Narrative Sand Therapy differs from Dora Kalff’s Sandplay therapy, how therapists validate the client’s experience with symbol activation, and approaches to deepen the therapeutic process.
