Private and group sessions for a quiet but powerful invitation for clinicians to re-enter their depth, creativity, and intuitive knowing. Sessions are led by Dr. Dee Preston-Dillon, founder of Narrative Sand Therapy©, a depth-oriented, collaborative approach developed from over 40 years of clinical practice, research into indigenous sand scene responses, and training therapists. Her method integrates social construction, narrative therapy, and phenomenological presence, emphasizing the symbolic voices and shared meanings that emerge between client, therapist, and sandworld.

Sessions are held in our studio in Brandywine, Maryland, and can also be provided virtually or at your office or off-site location of your choice. Travel and lodging, if needed, expenses are not included in the cost of the session.

Therapist Creativity Session

Revitalize Your Clinical Presence and Imagination

This session is designed specifically for mental health clinicians seeking to deepen their creative capacity within therapeutic work. Explore and expand your use of metaphor, symbol amplification, and active imagination. Case Consultation: Sand Therapy & Creative Expression

Deepen Clinical Insight Through Symbol, Scene, and Story

This case consultation session is designed for mental health clinicians working with Sandtray, Sandplay, or Narrative Sand Therapy. Together, we will explore how to more fully perceive and respond to the creative expressions of your clients by expanding interpretive depth and symbolic understanding.

In this session, you will:

  • Extend your clinical perception of client-created sand scenes
  • Explore nested layers of meaning within symbolic imagery and placement
  • Reflect on how to understand and respond to sand-based narratives with clinical sensitivity
  • Create your own sand scene to reflect your experience of the case, supporting insights into countertransference and existential resonance
  • Engage in dialogue that explores the deeper emotional and symbolic layers of the therapeutic process

Private Staff Training: Immersive Narrative Sand Therapy

Experiential Learning for Depth-Oriented Clinical Practice

This private staff training offers an immersive introduction to Narrative Sand Therapy, designed to enhance therapeutic presence, deepen symbolic understanding, and activate imaginative engagement with clients. Ideal for clinical teams seeking creative and depth-informed approaches to client work.

Training Components:

  • Practice engaging with client sand scenes using narrative, symbolic, and process-oriented approaches
  • Create personal sand scenes to deepen intuition, perception, and relational insight
  • Refine clinical skills such as symbol amplification, setting narrative context, and pacing silence
  • Activate imagination and spontaneity through in-the-moment invention and I–Thou dialogue
  • Explore co-transference and its role in the therapeutic encounter
  • Reflect on therapeutic process through lenses of existential and developmental psychotherapies

This training is fully experiential and tailored to the needs of your team. We offer APA CE for this training.
